Great story doing the rounds at Citeh a couple of years ago, probably not much truth in it but worth repeating, Manchester council pull the Arabs in and tell them they want to increase the rent, the Arabs,having just bought all the land next to the stadium tell the council that they can have thier stadium back and, and they woujd build a new one for themselves.

One of the biggest benefits to West Ham was selling the Boleyn...
immediate cash to reduce debt...cash flow etc...
Went from Owners to Renters...at a very good rate...15million upfront...and 2.5 million a year RPI adjusted...
What a deal...but no one else wanted it that could afford it...except Spurs that wanted to knock it down & re-build...
Club did very well...
